Our most sincere condolences on the loss of Johnny and Matthew. Johnny was an inspiration to my son growing up as an undersized player and was a role model for so many other players trying to make it. His countless achievements motivated every smaller player to do the same and show that skill should be valued. May Johnny and Matty both rest in peace and Praying for their parents, wives, sisters, children and nieces during this time of grief .

A generational talent both on and off the ice. There are only so many people that can radiate happiness through a tv screen, but Johnny was able to do just that while playing the game of hockey at the most elite level. The new generation’s Martin St. Louis if you will. Sending all my love and prayers to the Gaudreau family. Rest easy Johnny Ham and Cheese. I hope they have all the sandwiches, skittles, and purple Gatorade up there that you could ever ask for.

To the Gaudreau family, here in Calgary you will always be in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. Thank you for sharing your son with us. He not only brought us together through hockey, but through kindness, compassion and what it means to be human. To his parents, what a wonderful man you raised. To his wife, I know you’ll miss him immeasurably, but hopefully some comfort will come in being able to continue to see him through your children. To his siblings, I’m so sorry you lost 2 such amazing siblings. My heart is absolutely broken for all of you. May both John and Matthew rest in peace. They will be loved forever by so many. Thank you again for sharing him with us. We were lucky to have been his fans. All the love from Calgary. <3

Being too young to watch the 2004 Flames cup run, seeing Johnny score the overtime winner against the Stars to send the Flames into round 2 against the Oilers has been my best memory as a Flames fan. I’ll always consider Johnny a huge part of my childhood and I will miss him racing up the Saddledome ice.

My immense condolences to the Gaudreau family, friends, teammates, and loved ones. Growing up I wasn't exposed to the sport of hockey until well into my late teens, which I eventually started skating and playing. As a smaller player in hockey, Johnny grew us a source of inspiration for me that the game is open to all regardless of size and stature. His impacts on the ice and most importantly off the ice will live on forever, as we remember two incredible souls in Johnny and Matthew. -R

You didn't need to meet him in person to see who he was, and that is evident by the wide fan response to his untimely passing. both in and especially. Sending heartfelt condolences, from Canucks country to Johnny's wife, kids, parents, siblings & family members, close friends, former & current teammates and all touched by Johnny and Matthew's passing

My deepest sympathy and condolences to the Gaudreau Family and friends. Johnny brought so much happiness and joy to everyone that took the time to watch his on ice skill. He meant so much to Flames fans and during his years here he made everyone around him better. His public persona was that of a true Superstar. He was humble, giving and always had a great smile. We will miss him but we will never forget him.

I'm a Ranger fan but a Jersey girl. It's heartbreaking to lose two homegrown hockey heroes in such a senseless way and at the worst possible time. I was in Philly when the news hit, and I couldn't even look at a wedding there without thinking about what should have been for your family. Deepest condolences and prayers to the family! I know they can see the outpouring of love from everyone whose lives they touched

Like a lot of people, my favorite Johnny Gaudreau moment was when he scored the game 7 overtime goal in the 2022 playoffs vs the stars. That moment alone was so exciting and brought so much energy to the city but what makes that moment really special to me was seeing the embrace between him and Monahan as Johnny was leaving the ice. It was so heartwarming seeing how close those 2 really were and how much advancing to the next round meant to both of them! My heart breaks for your family, I'm so very sorry for your loss! For as great a player as Johnny was it sounds like he was even more spectacular off the ice... just an amazing human being with a big heart who would always put family first but made an effort to make time for fans happily taking pictures and signing autographs. I wish I could've met you myself and have you sign my flames jersey, even though it isn't signed I'm torn on whether I should wear it for every upcoming flames game or if I should frame it and put it up on my wall... I hate the fact that I'm currently sick because I would've lovrd to have gone to your vigil last night at the saddledome to pay my respects, I know some of us flames fans said some things about you when you left but we didn't mean any if it, we were just hurt that you were leaving... you were that special to us and I hope deep down you knew Calgary still loves you! You will of course be forever a flame! My heart goes out to all the blue jacket fans who are also mourning and only got to have you for a little while too!Thank you Johnny! Keeping you, Matthew and your friends/family in my heart, rest in peace!Hey Siri, play 'Johnny Be Good'!

I grew up a Calgary Flames fan and even after my beloved Jets returned to Winnipeg I still followed the Flames and the beginning of Johnny's NHL career. The most likeable guy from a fans viewpoint, I will never forget watching his rise to stardom. He was inspiring to many of us who are "too small" to be good enough at the game we all love. Thank you for leaving such a big impact on all of us in your 31 years. Rest well Johnny Hockey

My first memory of John was in 2017 in Las Vegas at the NHL Awards during the “magenta carpet “, as it was called. John was just happy to be there, happy to be among the fans. He stopped for all the fans, chatted briefly with us,and was just an absolute joy. I will also remember the infectious smile during warmups of the 2022 All Star Game where it was too early in the morning for warmups and yet John was just happy to be there with his peers. Thank You John for being the brightest star, the best person that you were. You are now an bright star amongst the heavens.

We were soo awestruck and honored that John chose to come to our town to play hockey for our team. His smile, the way he always looked like he was having fun in all interactions on and off the ice was a breath of fresh air in what had become stagnate and stale. He brought us hope and we will forever be grateful and remember what it was like to have a great human and player wear our jersey and represent our town. He chose us. We happily chose him. Sending our thoughts, our prayers, our strength, and our warmest condolences to John’s family, friends, teammates.
