The Boys Just Revealed Its True Version Of Ant-Man, And It's Not Termite (2024)

Summary

  • Every character in "The Boys" is a parody of a Marvel or DC superhero, and Gen V introduces a new Ant-Man parody that is surprising.
  • Emma "Little Cricket" Meyer is a supe in Gen V who can shrink and grow, making her a better Ant-Man parody than Termite.
  • Emma's personality and abilities align with those of the MCU's Ant-Man, as she doesn't see herself as a superhero and prefers smaller fights, similar to Scott Lang.

Termite has been considered to be The Boys' main parody of Marvel's Ant-Man, but Gen V just revealed that this isn't quite the case. Pretty much every supe in The Boys universe can be directly correlated to a Marvel or DC character, with the franchise acting as a massive superhero parody. For example, Homelander is a parody of Superman, The Deep is a parody of Aquaman, and A-Train is a parody of The Flash. However, some characters have multiple parodies in the franchise, and Gen V's new Ant-Man parody is the most astonishing one.

Gen V is finally out, with the highly-anticipated spin-off of Amazon Prime Video's The Boys currently releasing season 1. The series puts a new spin on the world of The Boys, with the series this time focusing on a prestigious supe college known as Godolkin University. Gen V follows Marie Moreau, a blood-bending supe who gets the opportunity to attend Godolkin. Upon arriving, however, Marie and her friends realize that Vought is hiding massive secret underneath the school.

Gen V Episode 4 Reveals That Emma Has The Power To Grow

While Marie is the main character in Gen V, one of the most interesting supes in the series is Emma "Little Cricket" Meyer. Emma is the roommate of Marie, with the supe having the power to shrink to the size of a half-inch. Emma shrinks by purging herself of food, with her only growing again when she eats. For the first three episodes of Gen V, Emma is only shown to be her normal size and smaller. This made viewers assume that Emma can only shrink, but Gen V episode 4 turned this assumption on its head.

Amazon's Gen V features several upbeat and emotionally resonant songs to enhance the impact of its slam-bang supe action and coming-of-age drama.

At the end of Gen V episode 4, Marie and the rest of the gang are attempting to stop Sam at Dr. Cardosa's house. In a last-ditch effort, Emma begins eating, with her suddenly growing to a size much larger than she had been seen before. This extra size and strength allows her to pin down Sam, with the episode ending on this massive moment.

Why Emma Is A Better Ant-Man Parody Than Termite

Termite and Emma are both similar characters, with them being supes that have the power to shrink. While their abilities and bug-themed nicknames are parallels with the popular Marvel character, Emma is much more in-line with Ant-Man than Termite. Much like Ant-Man, Emma has the parody to grow and shrink. Like Ant-Man, Emma is a bit embarrassed of her powers, believing that she doesn't live up to the likes of other Godolkin attendees.

Forget Homelander, The Boys' New Hero Is Secretly The Franchise's Most Powerful Supe

Step aside Homelander, there's a new supe in town. This Gen V character may be the franchise's most powerful character, meaning they can beat anybody.

On top of that, Emma's personality matches that of the MCU's Ant-Man pretty well. Emma doesn't see herself as a future member of The Seven, with her preferring fighting small animals on social media rather than worrying about crime fighting. Scott Lang was a former criminal, and one of the first things he is seen doing in the MCU is participating in a prison fight. Unlike The Boys' other superhero parodies, Termite has an incredibly small role, which is why the more fleshed-out version of the parody with Emma in Gen V works much bigger.

New episodes of Gen V release Fridays on Amazon Prime Video.
